GRE Score

Your GRE Score is composed of scores from three sections: the verbal reasoning section, the quantitative reasoning section and the analytical writing section. In August 2011, ETS introduced a new GRE scoring system for the verbal and quantitative reasoning sections. GRE ® revised General Test

The GRE Test or the revised General Test features a flexible, test-taker friendly design that lets you use more of your own personal test-taking style and strategies:

The GRE Test will give you:

• Preview and review capabilities within a section of the GRE TEST
• “Mark and review" feature to tag GRE TEST questions, so you can skip and return later within a section
• Ability to change/edit answers within a section in the GRE test
• On-screen calculator for the Quantitative Reasoning section*

Additionally, in the Verbal Reasoning section in the GRE Test, there is now more emphasis on your ability to understand what you've read and how you apply your reasoning skills. Antonyms and analogies are no longer part of the GRE test, so while vocabulary is still important, it is used within the context of a reading passage.

The GRE® revised General Test : GRE Test consists of the following three sections:

• GRE TEST in Verbal Reasoning: 

  The GRE Test measures your reasoning skills and your ability to understand what you have read. In this section you need to evaluate written material and synthesize information acquired from it, recognize relationships among concepts and words, as well as analyze relationships among the various parts of sentences.

• GRE TEST in Quantitative Reasoning:

The GRE Test measures your problem-solving skills and your ability to interpret and analyze quantitative information. For this section you will need to have an understanding of basic math concepts, such as algebra, geometry, data analysis and arithmetic.

• GRE TEST in Analytical Writing:  

The GRE Test measures your analytical writing skills and critical thinking, specifically your ability to support and express complex ideas        effectively and clearly.

In most regions of the world, it is possible to take the computer-based GRE® revised General Test on a continuous basis throughout the year.  In Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea, the GRE computer-based test is offered one to two times per month.  In areas of the world where GRE computer-based testing is not available, the GRE® revised General Test is offered in a paper-based format up to three times per year in February, October and November.
